The Helena Police
Department and the Mountain States Tactical Officer’s Association would
like to announce a 40 hour Train-the –Trainer course in “FIRST RESPONDER TO ACTIVE SHOOTER”
instructed by The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT PROGRAM).
The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training
(ALERRT) program stands at the
national forefront of active shooter response by providing first responding
police officers from across the country with the skills to stop the violence
committed by homicidal/ suicidal subjects, such as active shooters in schools,
and domestic and foreign terrorists.
Our
40-hour Train-the-Trainer course takes this important training a step
further. Participants who successfully complete the ALERRT Train-the-Trainer
course can go on to teach other law enforcement officers at their agencies with
support from the ALERRT program. This Train-the-Trainer course will train a
select group of 25 law enforcement officers who are experienced in police
training, firearms training, and/or tactical methods and includes the
following:
• The first two days have
the participants complete the basic active shooter 16-hour course.
• The third day is devoted
to teaching methods and instructor training.
• The fourth and fifth
days are focused on teach-backs, remediation and evaluation of the
participants.
The goal of the First Responder to Active Shooter
course is to aid patrol officers - specifically the true first responders - in
their ability to safely and effectively respond to, address, and stop an active
shooter. Our primary objective has been to provide high quality, dynamic first
responder training classes utilizing “force-on-force” training techniques to
law enforcement patrol officers and military police.
The ALERRT program has been training first responding
law enforcement officers since 2002. As we began our FY08 training year, we
had trained more than 13,000 law enforcement agents. Additionally, we have
certified more than 200 instructors through the ALERRT program
since 2002.
